TkGate 2.0 Download Page

Work on TkGate 2.0 is now primarily in a debugging phase. As of 2.0 Beta 7, the code is relatively stable and is probably good enough for production use. However, if you require the highest possible stability, you can continue to use TkGate 1.8.7. You can help improve 2.0 by reporting any bugs and problems you find either by email or via the sourceforge bug tracker on the tkgate sourceforge page (e-mail will probably get the quickest response).

If you are upgrading from 1.x, note that the save file format for 2.0 is very different from the 1.x save file. While 2.0 can read save files from earlier versions of TkGate, any files saved by 2.0 will be unreadable by earlier versions. Be sure you make a backup before opining any existing tkgate files with TkGate 2.0 to avoid accidentally overwriting them.

TkGate 2.0 Beta 5 - internal release only

The primary changes since Beta 3 are:
- Fixed core dump bug caused by clicking in scope window below list of traces.
- Cleaned up interface look.
- Fixed sizing problem with dialog boxes that sometimes caused clipping of the dialog box elements.
- Fixed simulator bug in register initialization. Registers were not being initialized until end of time step 0 and were triggering events.
- Fixed problem with initial display of flip-flop type in properties dialog box.
- Updated gmac to produce new-style memory files (-g can be used to get old-style files).
- Fixed problem with entries in port box not getting highlighted when clicked on.
- Fixed memory problem that happens when doing "new circuit" from menu.
- Fixed bug with module copy/rename, etc. dialog boxes not going away on "OK"

Download TkGate 2.0 Alpha 11 - This version has had substantial bug fixing since Alpha 5, and minor bug fixes from Alpha 6-10.
The primary changes since Alpha 10 are:
- Fixed bugs and made minor feature enhancements to block port editing through popup menus.
- Fixed bug causing delayed updates to graphical view in interface editor.
- Module instances can now be updated in place with new interfaces.
- Slight redesign of the module interface type selector.
The primary changes since Alpha 9 are:
- Added mouseover cursor change on edges of blocks.
- Fixed problems with port names changing when wire is cut.
- When choosing name when connecting wires, oldest name is given precedence.
- Fixed problem with getting module edge popup menu when window has been scrolled.
The primary changes since Alpha 8 are:
- Fixed configure script to look in /opt/local for Tcl/Tk (for OS X compatability)
- Fixed bit-order problem in display of symbol modules on some platforms.
- Fixed start-up crash on 64-bit machines.
- Fixed bug in symbol editor that could cause loss of port information
- Implement import/export of X bitmaps in symbol editor
I have received confirmation that TkGate 2.0 has been succesfully compiled and run on:
- FreeBSD 6.2
- Linux
  - Fedora Core 7
  - Slackware 12
  - SuSE 10.2, 10.3
  - Gentoo 2007-0
  - Ubuntu 7.04
- Mac OS X 10.3 Panther*

Download TkGate 2.0 Alpha 2 - This is the last version of TkGate to use the old-style configure script. If you have trouble with alpha 3, try this download.
Current development snapshot - This is the latest development snapshot. I will periodically update this link as bug fixes, etc. are made.

* Special Note for Mac OS X

It has been reported that there is a small problem with the installation script finding the tcl/tk distribution on OS X systems for 2.0-Alpha 8 and earlier. In order to fix this problem, you will need to edit the configure script and add "/opt/local/include" to the list of directories in TKGATE_INCDIRS, and "/opt/local/lib" to the list of directories in TKGATE_LIBDIRS. This problem has been fixed in the Alpha 9 release.
